  • "Yesterday we learned one of our servers had been injected with malware which was identified and removed from our site," the company said in a statement on Twitter.
  • "We’re conducting extensive research to determine exactly what info was obtained and are sending emails to customers potentially impacted. Please check your email."
  • Security researchers at RiskIQ said the attackworked by injecting malicious JavaScript onto Newegg's page to skim credit card information and sent it it to a domain registered as Neweggstats.com.

  • Some Newegg customers reportedly had their credit card info nicked, as hacking group Magecart strikes again.Security researchers RiskIQ said Wednesday that Magecart inserted malicious code into the payments system of the hardware and electronics retailer and made off with charge card data.The nasty code was running on the Newegg site from Aug.
  • The retailer appears to be the latest victim of Magecart, which RiskIQ researchers say is also responsible for recent hacks against British Airways and Ticketmaster.Earlier this month, British Airways said it was investigating a data breach and the theft of customer info.

  • Newegg, the well-known online electronics retailer and slayer of patent trolls, has been sued in federal court in Los Angeles by several major Korean banks.
  • The banks, which include Industrial Bank of Korea, Nonghyup Bank, Keb Hana Bank and Kookmin Bank, allege that Newegg and ASI Corporation pursued fraudulent deals with Moneual.
  • As Gizmodo noted, the Korean electronics manufacturer sold home theater PCs and cheap robotic vacuum cleaners, among other products.
